España es de los países desarrollados que menos invierte en salud: sólo el 9,7% del PIB, entre sanidad pública (6,6%) y privada (3,1%). Francia gasta el 11,7%; Alemania, el 11,3%; Holanda, el 10,8%; y Estados Unidos, el 16,2%.</SPAN></H3>

El sistema público de salud le cuesta a cada español unos 1.500 euros al año, que salen de sus impuestos. La media europea ronda los 2.100 euros. Francia (2.500), Alemania (2.600) o Reino Unido (2.100) también pagan más por habitante.</SPAN></H3>

Por 1.500 euros al año, España consigue una cobertura pública, gratuita y <A href="http://www.publico.es/espana/283034/el-gobierno-cambia-la-ley-para-garantizar-la-sanidad-universal" rel=nofollow target=_blank><FONT color=#0066cc>universal (a partir de enero de 2012</FONT></A>) con unas prestaciones muy superiores a la media de la UE: la prueba es que tantos europeos vengan a operarse a España. En los países sin sanidad pública, no hay seguro privado que ofrezca unos servicios sanitarios de la misma calidad a un precio tan bajo.</SPAN></H3>

España está entre los mejores países en casi todos los indicadores de salud: en esperanza de vida, en tasas de vacunación infantil o en trasplantes. Gracias a los sistemas de prevención, la mortalidad por cáncer de mama, por ejemplo, es casi un 24% inferior a la media de la UE.</SPAN></H3>

Que nuestra sanidad pública sea tan eficaz como barata significa que es uno de los mejores sistemas de salud del planeta, como así se reconoce fuera de España. Su eficiencia desmiente también dos falsedades: que el sistema sanitario español sea un lujo insostenible y que lo privado funcione siempre mejor que lo público</SPAN></H3>
